Vintage review

2003

2003 / Of exotism and roundness

The weather which reigned during the whole season was exceptionally dry and sunny. However, whereas the bud-break took place precociously at the end of March, some frosts damaged a few buds in April. Consequently some berry-shot emerged on the frosted buds during flowering. Then summer was very dry and very hot, leading to the scorching of the most exposed bunches. The wines of this burning vintage are rich, full, very ripe, very concentrated. Made of a great aromatic intensity they give off smells of candied citrus, very ripe fruit, exotic fruit and honey. In the mouth they are harmoniously balanced between ampleness, fatness, roundness.
